The International University of Cyprus, which symbolizes the contemporary direction of the Island of Cyprus, was founded in Nicosia, the capital, on February 4, 1997 as a result of a five year study.

​

In the academic year of 1997-1998, he started his education in Lefkoşa campus with 12 undergraduate programs in 3 faculties and 3 associate degree programs in 1 vocational school. In the 2001-2002 academic year, the University continued to train at the Haspolat campus with 2 dormitories, a computer center, a student center, a rectorship building and a faculty building.

Today, there are 10 faculties (Education, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Communication, Fine Arts, Engineering, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Agricultural Science and Technology, Science-Literature, Law) and 56 undergraduate programs related to these faculties. In addition, there are the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, the School of Applied Sciences, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Physical Education and Sports and the 2-year programs of the Vocational School, the Vocational School of Justice and the Health Sciences Vocational School. Postgraduate and PhD programs are still in place at the Graduate School of Education and Research.
